The Direct Marketing Club of New York (www.dmcny.org) announced today the recipients of its 2011 Silver Apple Awards, now in its 27th year. The Silver Apples recognize individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to direct and interactive marketing, during a career spanning at least 25 years. In addition, for the third time in its history, the organization also announced it will bestow a Golden Apple to honor an individual for 50 years of service. A gala to mark the awards will be held Thursday evening, November 10, at New York’s Hudson Theatre. Individual Recipients: Joseph Gomez, Vice President, New Business Development, fmi Direct (Bayport, NY) Tom Mastrocola, Director, Subscription Acquisition, American Express Publishing (New York, NY) Jerry Messer, President & CEO, Data Services, Inc. The Golden Apple is rarely bestowed, and this is only the third time in 27 years that a Golden Apple recipient has been announced. "As we look at these recipients, we see a group of individuals who truly represent leaders in direct and interactive marketing disciplines to help brands succeed in building and strengthening customer interactions," said DMCNY Club President Pegg Nadler. "As we celebrate their achievements, we also mark the dynamics that make our profession challenging, stimulating and very rewarding. This is where marketing is heading – and these people and companies are showing us the way." Each year, the Club’s past presidents gather to select a handful of individuals and a corporate honoree to receive Silver Apples. The recipients must have at least 25 years’ experience in the business, a commitment to volunteerism and leadership, and a record of vital contributions to the growth of the industry. The Golden Apple honoree is selected in the same manner. This year’s event marks the 27th anniversary of the award, and a special gala will be held in Manhattan’s Hudson Theater at 145 West 44th Street on Thursday, November 10, 2010, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.
