The Direct Marketing Club of New York is an independent, non-profit organization serving members and site visitors interested in direct marketing.

Our privacy pledge to you: We know that you care how information about you is used and shared, and we are committed to do so carefully and sensibly. We are the sole owner of all information collected on our site. We do not sell, share, or rent this information to others in any way that we have not mentioned in this policy statement. Here is our promise to our members:

  • We will safeguard, according to strict standards of security and confidentiality, any information our members and visitors share with us.
  • We will limit the use of member/visitor information to the minimum we require to deliver superior service to our members/visitors, which includes advising our members/visitors about our events, services and other opportunities, and to administer our business.

Many of the services and content on the DMCNY site are offered without our collecting any personally identifiable information from you. You can use our site and view much of our content anonymously.

The information we gather online falls into two categories: (1) personal information you voluntarily supply when you join, register for an event, complete a survey, or provide your e-mail address, and (2) tracking information collected as you navigate through our site.

Personally identifiable information
There are many features on our site for which no registration is required. You will need to provide us with personal information about yourself if you are interested in obtaining certain information or services, or in participating in certain activities (such as becoming a member or registering for an event). When you do this, we collect personally identifiable information about you, including, but not limited, to your name, mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number, credit-card information, and user name and password.

Aggregate information collected through technology

None of this information identifies you personally; we collect it for aggregate reporting on site activity. Most aggregate information is collected via cookies. Cookie information is used only by the DMCNY and our agents and is not provided to any other organization. It is used in aggregate for traffic analysis and to provide relevant information to our visitors. Our primary goal in collecting information is to provide you with a customized experience when visiting our site and to make our site more useful to you.

DMCNY uses personally identifiable information collected in a limited number of ways. We use the information to complete transactions and fulfill requests for our services. For instance, if you become a member or register for an event, we use your information to process your request, or if you contact us for help, we will use the information to reply to you. We also use the information you provide to send you e-mail, faxes and mail for DMCNY programs or services that we believe may be of interest to you. Third parties
If you join DMCNY, register for an event, participate in a bulletin board or respond to a survey we may occasionally exchange or rent your information with other reputable companies that offer direct marketing services and information.

Service providers
We contract with other companies to provide certain services on our behalf, including credit-card processing, and e-mail distribution. We provide these companies only with the information they need to perform their services. These service providers are restricted from using this data in any way other than to provide services for DMCNY, and they may not share or resell this data.

We may occasionally release personal information as required by law, for example, to comply with a court order or subpoena.

Site visitors
Visitors to the DMCNY site can view name and address information in the Membership Directory. They cannot view email addresses.

DMCNY members have full access to contact information as listed in the print and online Membership Directories.

Event sponsors
When you attend an event we do share your contact information with the sponsors of the event.


DMCNY provides members with the ability to access and edit the personal information that you have provided to us. To update the information retained about you, please log in to the Membership Directory. For any other requests, write to us at:

Member and services related e-mail
We will send you e-mails relating to your membership. These include membership registration and event confirmations, renewal/expiration notices, and credit-card problem notifications.

Upcoming events:
We will send members and visitors email notifications of upcoming events. If you no longer wish to these notifications, follow the "Unsubscribe" instructions located near the bottom of each email.

Promotional e-mails:
As a rule we do not share your email address with third parties for promotional purposes. However, on occasion you may receive messages that we think may be of interest to you about other direct marketing, services and programs. You may opt out of receiving all e-mails from us although you will also be unsubscribed from receiving event notifications.


We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security, and correctly use the information we collect online. We maintain a secure process to collect, transmit, and store your personally identifiable information. When you provide credit-card information, we use secure socket layer (SSL) encryption to protect it. However, no method of transmitting or storing electronic data is ever completely secure, and therefore we cannot warrant or guarantee that such information will never be accessed, used or released in a manner that is inconsistent with this policy.


This Privacy policy may be amended from time to time. Any modifications will be reflected first on this page, so check back often. If we make a significant or material change in the way we use your personal information, we will make you aware by prominently posting a notice on our Web sites.

DMCNY Refund Policy
